OUR
PURPOSE

We believe that access to art is a universal human right, a powerful social and civil reconstruction cultural tool.
MAMBO holds a collection of more than 4,700 artworks of Colombian, Latin American, and international artists. We want to share and celebrate the collection and deepen our understanding of its importance.
We research the multiple histories within our collection, focusing on ethnic, cultural, religious, and sexual diversity and issues such as disability, age, and gender in art.
We offer our visitors a wide range of experiences through our collection and exhibitions’ programs. By sharing stories and celebrating different voices, we encourage creative participation and immersive experiences.

Dear friends,
The Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá is a multicultural and dynamic institution that has investigated and exhibited ithe various manifestations of modern and contemporary art since its foundation in 1963. Its exhibitions, education and cultural activities will continue to be an irreplaceable element within the museum's mission, continuously contributing to the development of society.

And this is what art is, a living being that walks without stopping and permeates walls, borders, markets, and minds. Based on imagination, and only through it, will we be able to contemplate other narratives for our past and new paths towards the future.

For the Museum, it is essential to get new donors, and thus increase its resources to execute the planned strategies in its different activities. In addition, the dream of achieving the expansion of its headquarters, and permanently exhibiting its important collection of modern art.

This task is not easy, but I am convinced that culture will be recognized by many who see the transforming role of art in these institutions.

EUGENIO
VIOLA

I envision MAMBO as a community-centered inclusive space whose mission is to interact with our uncertain times through arts and culture, presenting a variety of perspectives and unrepresented voices.

Although MAMBO receives funds from the Ministry of Culture and the city council, the allocated resources are insufficient for the institution's functioning

Therefore, it is thanks to private donors' vital and invaluable support and generosity that we can ensure MAMBO's annual program of exhibitions and events.

MAMBO is a vital part of the Colombian and Latin American cultural fabric. Your commitment will allow MAMBO to go the extra mile to support artists in developing and presenting their work and enhancing the public’s engagement with the institution.

Your support is paramount to the institution's success and the future of contemporary Colombian arts.

Sincerely,

Eugenio Viola

TESTIMONIALS

It was very interesting. We went through an amazing art journey by exploring various themes, art techniques and expressing ideas. It is an opportunity to interact and learn from long-trajectory artists. Activities at MAMBO are motivating and contribute to triggering ideas, proposals, and ways of seeing and doing.
At MAMBO, I learn while I have fun. I can also able to foster my creativity to develop exercises while understanding new concepts and topics. Thank you very much for creating these spaces that allow us to reflect and learn about cutting-edge subjects.
It was an extraordinary experience. I learned new techniques from a very inspiring and respected artist. I also improved as a human being by learning not to judge or criticize just for the sake of criticism but to think about one another and respect their perspective. It was an experience that contributed to my personal growth.
